New Jersey's "Just Say No" debt plan makes the state a test case for the rest of the country, wrote Barron's reporter Randall W. Forsyth, citing the Evercore Wealth Management research report "New Jersey Budget Proposals: A Litmus Test for the Rest of the Country."
The article, which is based exclusively on the report by Evercore Wealth Management's director of municipal research Howard Cure, highlights strategies for New Jersey investors seeking income sheltered from the state's crushing taxes.
These include essential-serve revenue bonds with stable finances as an alternative to government-backed bonds "until we are convinced that structural changes to the state's finances have become permanent," said Cure.
